OLED TV currently accounts for more than 50% of high-end TV, and now more than a dozen domestic and foreign TV companies have chosen to alliance with LGD, plus the new factory in Guangzhou will be put into production next year, OLED TV seems to have begun to take the lead. Samsung was also interested in developing OLED TV panels, but the recent situation has changed a bit, Samsung said it will adopt a "two-track" business strategy, mainly to produce QLED and Micro LED panels.

In the mainstream TFT-LCD field, China's two major panel manufacturers, Jingdong and Huaxing, have strong photoelectric strength. Under construction or has been put into production of 10.5/11 generation panel production lines, Korea's two major panel manufacturers can only choose to develop new panel technology. Samsung Television developed OLED panel for smartphone market in the same year. At present, its small and medium-sized OLED panel business has become the second largest source of profit after the memory chip business. Originally it intended to develop OLED panel for TV, but in the face of LGD's dominant position in the OLED panel Market for TV, it chose to develop QLED TV. At the beginning of this year, it was leading the other enterprises to release the world's first microLED TV.

QLED and OLED have their own advantages in color display, black purity, brightness, and response time, but OLED televisions are lighter, thinner, more energy-efficient and offer the best viewing angle ever, and LGD has combined with more TV manufacturers, and seems to be losing ground on QLED technology. However, the weakness of OLED TV is also very obvious, that is, shorter life, easy to appear screen burning and other issues, and microLED can just solve the weaknesses of OLED technology.

But at present, the production technology of microLED panel still needs to be improved, and its large-scale production is still facing difficulties. Samsung TV does not want microLED panel technology to affect its main source of profit in small and medium-sized OLED panel business, so first for restaurants, shops, stadiums, museums and other commercial users to push micro LED power. It takes time for microLED technology to replace OLED.

Editor's point of view: Samsung's strategy as a whole is still ahead of the curve, and if the future goes well, it can still compete with LGD and domestic manufacturers in the panel area. Korean enterprises pay attention to technology worthy of domestic manufacturers to learn, then the question is, which domestic manufacturers can take the road of Samsung panel in the future, so that Samsung panel no way to go?
